Buying vs. Renting

Buying a Home

Great schools, good city services, nice parks and playground facilities, convenient shopping and transportation, a track record of sound development and good planning—these are just a few considerations that are important to many people when they choose a community in which to live.

No one knows the people and the communities they serve better than local real estate agents.  It’s a Realtors job to know the ins and outs of communities and the home-buying or home-selling process.  Even before talking with Mariah, you can take advantage of the FIND YOUR HOME tab at the top of the page.  The site has up to 90% or more of the homes listed in any given community, which makes it relatively easy for buyers to access detailed information on homes for sale practically anywhere in the County.  This gives the buyers the ability to see current market prices and what's available in their price range before contacting a real estate agent.

Renting vs. Buying

It’s better to buy a home than to rent one in most cases.  But not in every case. Comparing buying to renting is actually a fairly complicated endeavor. However, there are a few easy guidelines you can use to aid you in your decision.  Buying a home is usually more beneficial than renting.

The reason that buying is usually better than renting is not because you avoid throwing money away, it's because:

•You lock in your monthly payment for 15 or 30 years. (If you kept renting you’d pay more each year.)

•Your house gets more valuable over time.  Freezing your monthly payments is where the real benefit is.  If were not for this, for many people it would make more sense to rent. This is the gem that makes home buying worthwhile.
